Ί£½ΗΝψ is located in Perlis. The smallest state in Malaysia, Perlis lies at the northern part of the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is bordered by Thailand's Satun and Songkhla provinces to the north and the Malaysian state of Kedah to the south. This pleasant little state has a population of approximately 253,000 comprising mainly of Malays (the majority), Chinese and Indians.
The administrative capital of Perlis is Kangar, while its royal capital is Arau. Padang Besar, one of Malaysia's gateway to Thailand, is located about 30 minutes drive from Kangar. The port and ferry terminal at the small coastal village of Kuala Perlis links the state to the popular tourist island of Langkawi. Some 2.5 hours drive to the south is the beautiful island of Penang, while metropolitan Kuala Lumpur is about 6 hours away by car (or 40-minute flight).
Perlis is ideal for those pursuing their studies, thanks to its quiet appeal, rustic charm and lush greenery. People in Perlis are known for their simplicity and warmth.
